Do you want to research an investment? That's where the Stock Centre comes in for equity investments. We also have the ETF Centre for exchange-traded funds and the Fund Centre for mutual funds.
Stocks and exchange-traded funds that are listed on a stock exchange come with a ticker symbol (usually three or four letters). Mutual funds are available from mutual fund companies and typically come with a different symbol (a combination of letters to identify the fund company and numbers to identify the fund).
When you enter a stock symbol, for example, the Stock Centre will show you an overview of the company, together with a chart of its stock performance. You can also click on other tabs to find out more about the company and the stock, such as analyst ratings and reports and technical analysis (patterns from the trading activity of the stock).
As an investor based in Canada, you have access to Canadian and US stocks from a single investment account. If a company is listed on stock exchanges in both countries, the Canadian listing will appear with a Canadian flag, while the US listing will appear with an American flag.
Now we’ve explained the most important points you need to get started and buy your first investment. Below are other points to help you as an investor.
